Hello all girls who want to have control of your weight. I want to share with you my secrets to losing weight and keeping weight off. That is, what has worked for me. (Please always seek the advice of a physician if you have health issues beyond this scope.) First, I set baby step goals. In other words you set small goals, and you get back on the track even if you fall off. Go towards the goal no matter how many times you fumble. And realizing that fumbling is part of the process. Second, why did you fumble or fail to do the baby steps that you set? What were your feelings at the time? What things in life got in the way? Get in tune with the big picture of your life and your feelings and slowly process them, so that you can get pass them and be stronger in going towards your goal of having control of your weight. That is, losing unwanted pounds, or maintaining your ideal weight.
Me at 49. Baby Steps Weight Control is what has worked for me my whole life. |
My first baby step goals are:
- No eating past 7:00 pm until 7:00 am. I seek to get this baby step in place before I move on. Mastering this baby step gives me the strength to master the next baby step.
- Eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with no snacking in between. I do not focus on what I am eating or how much, but just on no eating in between meals. Mastering this baby step gives me the strength to master the next baby steps I set for myself.
- No over eating during meal time. Now this can be a process of getting in tune with your feelings and/or life as mentioned earlier, as to what is causing you to over eat, or eat in between meals. The goal is to improve and become stronger in your ability to have control of your appetite. You may fumble, but always get back on track, and try to figure out what caused you to fumble so that you can avoid it. Always be thinking as to how you can improve your strategy to be able become stronger in this baby step.
- Introducing healthier food items to my meals. Again, set baby steps. For example, eating less sugar is healthier for you, and so, cut back on the amount of foods you eat that have sugar. To help you do this, providing yourself with naturally sweet food items (like fruit or raisins) can help you to accomplish this goal of eating less sugar. Eating healthier is going to help you to loss weight in the long run. It helps to you think better so that you can think through and overcome any emotional or life barriers that are getting in the way of your reaching your goal of losing weight.
- Beginning to walk daily. Even if it is just to the end of the block and back. The object is to do it daily no matter what. I may start out small, but developing this baby step helps me to increase my distance eventually as my body becomes stronger.
The object of these baby steps is to start off slowly, and to get right back up if you should fall!
And Remember: "Be ye transformed by the renewing of you mind..." (Romans 12:2). It is not about your weight, it is about changing your way of thinking and habits. It is your God given right to enjoy life just as much as anyone else, so don't be shy to get out there and walk daily (Even if it is just 20 feet). Focus on transforming your thinking and habits and the weight will automatically come off in time, and you will increase your distance. It is about feeling good in your body and enjoying life to its fullest. If you focus on your appearance and weight, you will fail to accomplish your goal. Focus on developing better habits through baby steps.
